"This last week or so I have been chasing Comet Tsuchinstan-ATLAS. It has been playing 'peek-a-boo' between the scuttling clouds. Never taken photographs of a comet before, so its been a steep learning curve"
I remember the evening well. There were many people gathered at Wembury beach car park all looking for the elusive comet. Many had never done stargazing before. Armed with an eclectic mix of binoculars all eyes were turned to the south west horizon just as sunset descended.
After some research on various facebook astrophotography forums, I had selected the following equipment for the night:
- Canon 800D
- Samyang 135mm (or 14mm lens as I did interchange lenses during the session)
- Canon 50mm lens
- intervalometer
- Benro carbon fibre tripod
I processed the results in SIRIL and affinity photo. First time I have captured a comet.

I think these final images were a better effort at processing.
It is all the same data gathered on the night just post edit processed slightly differently
These images were processed in the program Sequator
